Alfred S. Thomas of Arcade passed away Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018 at Bertrand Chaffee Hospital in Springville. He was 89.

Born on May 16, 1928 in Parsons, Kan., he was a son of the late Maurice and Minerva Thomas.

Alfred worked as a machine operator for the Robinson Knife Factory in Springville.

He was an avid bird watcher. Alfred loved to watch “Gunsmoke” with his cat, Charlie always by his side. 

His children, Dennis (Jean) Thomas of Arcade and Susan (Dave) Smith of Eagle; a sister, Harriet Russell of Wichita, Kan.; his grandchildren, Amy (Shane) Armatys, Stephanie Forrester, Riley (Erin) Thomas, Lydia (Jared) Dziedzic, Brian (Ling) Smith, and Erica (Dave) Potts; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, survive.

His wife, Florence Thomas, who passed away in 2008; two brothers, Roy Thomas of Alabama and Maurice Thomas of California; and one sister, Mary Maloney of California, preceded Alfred in death.

There will be no calling hours. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
