Art Society Exhibition Celebrates Ongoing Legacy

The first exhibition of the Fall 2021 season at Meibohm Fine Arts is a group exhibition featuring artists from the Buffalo Society of Artists (BSA) during its 130th anniversary year.

Thumb Box Exhibition started on Sept. 17 and will continue to Oct. 16.

Artwork by Charles Houseman.

This anniversary exhibition celebrates the tradition of showcasing small works, no work larger than 9-inches by 12-inches. Thumb Box exhibits were popular with the BSA in the early 1900s, named after a small paint and supply box that would be taken on painting executions by artists to capture their inspirations on small panels.

The 44 juried artists and their 78 associated works included in this current exhibit represent a diverse range of styles, subject matter and mediums.
