The Boys & Girls Club of Elma, Marilla & Wales (EMW), located on Girdle Road in Elma, recently celebrated its 50th anniversary during an annual dinner on Jan. 27.
The evening included inducting three people to the wall of fame: Shirley Schildkamp, Jim Coatsworth and Michael “Weeze” Holcomb. Senator Patrick Gallivan presented club leaders with a proclamation and there was a table at the event filled with thank you cards from current club members for guests to take home.
EMW has been part of the community within the Iroquois Central School District since opening its doors in 1974. Serving over 1,200 youth, EMW provides a variety of services for young people after school, during holidays and throughout summer vacation.
EMW is part of a nationwide network of Boys & Girls clubs. Jim Kaufmann is the board president and Tracey Theal is the club’s executive director.
