Historian’s Corner: Democrats to Make History, But It’s Not a First in Aurora


Beginning Jan. 1, Democrats will hold a majority of the seats on the Aurora Town Board for the first time in anyone’s memory. With the election of Luke Wochensky to a four-year term in 2019, and Joe McCann and James Granville this past November, a few inquiring minds have asked the Historian’s Office if a Democratic majority has ever happened before.

It has happened before, but there’s a good reason why no one can remember it.
