Library to Host Art Show on Chautauqua Institute

Aurora Public Town Library will exhibit paintings of Chautauqua Institution during the month of September 2021. It is titled “Cherishing Beauty and Grace.”

The show spotlights creative works by two East Aurora Art Society members, Nancy Cerny and Sharon M. Bartell. Their oils and watercolors of Chautauqua Institution grounds and gardens were created over their years of annual painting retreats. This show captures some of the beauty and grace of the late 19th and early 20th century architecture, splendid gardens and the fluctuating weather conditions of this historic Chautauqua Lake area, in southwest New York State, near Jamestown and Mayville, NY

Sharon Bartell created this watercolor of the Fowler-Kellogg Art Center in Chautauqua.
