The Kiwanis Club of Marilla announced a date change of its participation in the local “Thanks-a-Lot Troops” collection of socks for service members and veterans.
The new date is Sunday, Nov. 6.
The club will have a collection box during the Town of Marilla Veteran’s Day Parade on that date. Collection of socks will go from 1 to 2 p.m. at 1810 Two Rod Road in front of the Marilla Community Center.
Donations should be new socks in their original wrapping. They can be adult socks of any size or color, for men or women.
If unable to bring socks that day, collection of these items is also being held at Marie’s Diner, 13193 Broadway in Alden.
“Thanks-a-Lot Troops” organizers will then distribute the socks to deployed troops and veterans in the VA hospitals.
The club will also give out apples – washed and ready to eat – during the parade.
