Maryann Helen Myers died on Thursday, May 25 at home in East Aurora under the care of her family and Hospice Buffalo, Inc. after a valiant fight with Pancreatic Cancer. She was 72.

Born Maryann Helen Ulrich on March 13, 1945, in Niagara Falls, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Clara Ulrich. She graduated with the Class of 1962 from Baker Victory High School and went on to earn an Associates Degree in medical laboratory technology in 1964 from Erie Community Technical College (now Erie Community College).

She worked as a research laboratory assistant experimenting on mouse and rat livers treated with chemicals at Roswell Park Memorial institute from 1964 to 1965, before taking a 14-year leave from work to be a stay-at-home mother. She returned to the workforce in 1979, working as a medical assistant for Thomas A. Augustine, MD until 1988. From 1996 to 2000, she was the office assistant at Condrell Center, and she worked as the bookkeeper from 2004 to 2016 for the Greater East Aurora Chamber of Commerce.

Active in the East Aurora community, her place of residence since 1987, Mrs. Myers was a 15-year docent at The Roycroft Inn, as well as the Elbert Hubbard Museum, from 1994 to 2009. She was on the Board of Directors for the Aurora Historical Society for 12 years from 1997 to 2009. During that same period, she was also the Assistant Curator with Gen Steffan at Elbert Hubbard Museum. She was also a member of Immaculate Conception Church of East Aurora.

The former Miss Ulrich was wed to John L “Jack” Myers on Feb. 27, 1965 at St Ambrose Church on Ridgewood Road in South Buffalo with a Catholic Mass and Celebration.

In addition to her parents, a brother, Robert Ulrich, predeceased Mrs. Myers.

Her love for her family and grandchildren was not diminished by her passion for history and her interest in antiques, The Roycroft Inn, the Arts and Crafts Movement, the Elbert Hubbard Museum, Frank Lloyd Wright history and the Aurora Historical Society. She enjoyed spending free time reading and garage and estate sales shopping.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, John L. Myers; daughters Jennifer (Thomas) LaGrou and Amy (Anthony) Foster; grandchildren Sara, Tessa and Angela LaGrou and Aiden and Aurora Foster; sister Virginia (Michael) Rauls; and sister-in-law Marie Ulrich.

All arrangements were made by Kenneth Howe Funeral Home, 64 Maple Road, East Aurora.

A memorial service was held on Wed., May 31 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Myers was buried at Marilla Cemetery in a private family service.
