Obituary: Bernard J. Weber, Served in Coast Guard, Cherished Father, Church Volunteer


Bernard J. Weber

July 2, 1935- July 15, 2020

Bernard J. Weber, a longtime resident of Elma, died on July 15, 2020. He was 85.

Mr. Weber met Janet Peters, who became his wife of 45 years, at a USO event while serving in the US Coast Guard. They became longtime residents of Streif Road in Elma, where they raised their three sons. 

Mr. Weber worked at Ferro-Electro, Cadet Cleaners, and EverFab. He enjoyed golfing at Quiet Times, where he recorded his only Hole-In-One. 

As a lifetime member of the Elma Conservation Club, he loved his limburger cheese sandwich with a beer on Saturdays. 

Mr. Weber was a long-time member of St. Vincent de Paul Church, where he served as an usher and volunteered for Catholic Charities, annual lawn fetes, and a variety of church related activities.  

He coached EMW baseball and supported his grandchildren’s sporting events and musical performances. 

After the passing of his wife, Mr. Weber spent time working for Paul Kloc Funeral Home. 

In addition to his wife, Janet, Mr. Weber was predeceased by his son Timothy Weber.

He is survived by his children Eric (Jean) Weber and Gregory (Betty) Weber, eight grandchildren and two great-granddaughters, and sister Marie (late Edward) Frontera.

Throughout his life, Mr. Weber truly enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Vincent de Paul Church on July 20, officiated by Father James Walter.
