Obituary: June C. Angrignon, Avid Gardener, Dearest Mother and Grandmother

June C. Angrignon

June 18, 1945-July 23, 2020

June C. Angrignon, a well recognized East Aurora resident for nearly 50 years, died suddenly of natural causes on Thursday, July 23. She was 75.

Born June 18, 1945, and growing up on the West Side of Buffalo, the former Ms. Herbison was the daughter of the late Norman and Dorothy Herbison. She is also predeceased by her brother Michael (Lynda) Herbison.

Mrs. Angrignon was a well-known figure in East Aurora, delivering The Buffalo News to the majority of residents in East Aurora for over 30 years, a long career which was aided by her nature as a friendly and outgoing person.

To say she was an avid gardener and loved flowers is an understatement. After living on Oakwood Avenue for over 30 years, there was very little grass left at her residence by the time she left it. During her time there, the lawn gradually grew to become a full flower garden, complete with roses and every kind of flower that would grow in our climate, blooming continuously in an abundance of color.  She delighted in all things green, and her green thumb didn’t stop in the yard, her porch was surrounded with hanging baskets full of flowers. As a lover of all aspects of nature, if she wasn’t found in the garden, she could be found in the woods, looking for pinecones and other tiny treasures with which to decorate her garden. Mrs. Angrignon was an invaluable resource and served as everyone’s go-to person when they wanted to identify a flower or learn what they needed to know about nurturing it to its full potential.

Through her long life, she found constant companionship with her animals, owning not only a dog but also many, many cats. She leaves behind her cat, Tootsie, with whom she shared a special bond.

Mrs. Angrignon loved her children and grandchildren dearly, and they are unarguably her legacy. Her daughter Susan describes her mother as compassionate and caring, and an amazing listener. She was incredibly open and honest and could talk to anyone. Even when others could not see good in a person, Mrs. Angrignon was able to find a person’s most redeeming qualities. Looking for the good in people was something she believed in, and she taught and reminded her children and grandchildren to do the same. This special quality endeared her to many and is likely a reason for her popularity within the community.  She was well-loved by all who knew her.

Mrs. Angrignon is survived by her children Tyler (Rachel) Angrignon, Todd Angrignon, and Susan (Kenneth) Thiel; and grandchildren Joseph, Samantha, Juliana, Sean, Austin, Alison, and Sierra.
