Obituary: Linda Militello, Music Ministry, Member of Aurora Players

Linda Flanagan Pries Militello of Orchard Park died at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 31, in the Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility. She was 76.

She was born December 11, 1942 in East Aurora, the daughter of the late Robert J. and Dorothy Flanagan Pries.

Mrs. Militello was a 1960 graduate of East Aurora High School and studied accounting at Bryant and Stratton Business Institute in Buffalo.

Before her retirement in 2005, she was employed with the federal government working as a cashier at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Buffalo for 20 years. She had previously worked for M&T Bank.

She was very active throughout her high school years in the music department as a pianist and continued this talent teaching piano for many years. In her junior year in high school, she became the organist for Baker Memorial United Methodist Church in East Aurora, serving them for 20 years. Following this position, she served as organist for Faith Lutheran Church in Elma, a position she regretfully relinquished in 2007 due to an eye condition. She was very saddened to forgo her music ministry after 48 years of service.

Mrs. Militello was an active participant in the Aurora Players, serving as pianist for many musical productions. She also loved gardening and enjoyed sitting in the yard observing the landscape and sharing conversations with her companion Leo.

Mrs. Militello is survived by her two sons James L. Langendorfer of Sheridan and Robert T. (Diane) Langendorfer of Sinclairville; grandchildren Beau L. Langendorfer and Kalee M. Halladay, both of Gerry; and a brother Robert Pries of San Diego, Calif.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Militello was preceded in death by her husband Cosmo F. Militello; sister, Dorothy A. Pries; and her companion of many years, Leo E. Osuch.

Arrangements were entrusted to Lind Funeral Home, 805 West Third St., Jamestown, NY 14701.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, in the Christ Lutheran Church, 3012 Rt. 430, Jamestown, NY 14701.

Visitation will not be observed.

Memorials donations may be made to Christ Lutheran Church.
