Marguerite McCarty (née Fattey), formerly of East Aurora, died on Tuesday, January 29, in Casselberry, Fla. She was 91.

The wife of the late Rex McCarty of North Java, Mrs. McCarty was stepmother of three boys: John (Debbie) McCarty of North Java, the late Allan McCarty, and Scott McCarty, a resident of Florida.

She is survived by her siblings Lucia Baker, Larry Fayette, George Fayett; grandchildren; great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. McCarty’s life was celebrated during morning mass on Saturday, Feb. 2, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Casselberry, where she lived for many years.

Mrs. McCarty was born on Aug. 16, 1927. After graduating from Buffalo State College and the Eastman School of Music, Mrs. McCarty taught at West Seneca High School and was employed at Moog, Inc.

Her soprano voice won a scholarship from The Voices of Tomorrow contest in the 1950s. She loved singing in her church choir.

She spent her retirement years in Casselberry, where she was a substitute teacher until just recently.

Mrs. McCarty will be buried alongside her husband, Rex, in Kinmundy, Ill.
