Marvin Madison

Oct. 16, 1932 – Aug. 11, 2019

Marvin Madison, a former banker, died in East Aurora on Sunday, August 11. He was 86.

Born in Plainview, Minn., Mr. Madison moved to East Aurora in 1955. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University at Buffalo.

Mr. Madison was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from 1951 to1954, over two years in Germany and was a member of the East Aurora American Legion. 

He was employed by Buffalo Savings Bank (later Goldome) rising to officer in charge of the mortgage serving department and later officer in charge of general services. 

He was active in many community groups such as the American Institute of Banking, president; Buffalo Postal Council, president; Channel 17 Auction, division chairman; United Way; Aurora Town Chairman; Mortgage Bankers of WNY, founder and director; Buffalo and East Aurora Chambers of Commerce; Purchasing Managers Association; and Association of Fleet Managers. 

Active with the Boy Scouts of America, Mr. Madison served as an assistant with Troop 513 and served on a district level as district chairman of the Cazenovia District.

He had a great love for the outdoors and hunted and fished throughout North America. He was an active member of the National Rifle Club, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, the Safari Club, and the East Aurora Country Club.

Mr. Madison also enjoyed his garden and took pride in growing vegetables. 

He is survived by his wife of Joyce (née Allen) Madison; children Debra (late Darryl) Stacey, Marvin Michael Madison, Barbara (Lawrence) Fertel, Kathleen (Scott) Tasker and Patricia (Bill) Miller; grandchildren Justin Stacey, Collin (Chelsea) Stacey, Lauren Stacey, Jennifer Fertel, Steven Fertel, Emily Madison, Will Miller, Lilly Miller, Ryan Miller and Ava Miller; sister June (late Howard) Ramsey; and survived by many nieces and nephews.  

He was predeceased by his brother Donald (late Penny) Madison.

Private services were held.
