Someone at the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has a pretty good sense of humor. Take the season for trout fishing that opens on the very day this edition of the world’s best hometown newspaper arrives in your mailbox. April the first. Also known as April Fools’ Day, or in my case, April Fool’s Day—I can speak […]
Dear Editor, There has been much interest in some quarters as of late regarding statehood for Washington, D.C. The stated reason is to give the residents the right to elect their own representatives in our government. If that is the real reason and it is not just to get more senators on the Democrat side of the floor there is […]
Dear Editor, As relative newcomers to the East Aurora area, a mere 17 years, we have thoroughly enjoyed the charms of the village and town. We brag to our out-of-state family that East Aurora is a tourist destination. In the last couple of months, he’s been scuba diving in the Florida Keys, hiking in White Sands National Park in New Mexico, and has a temporary job at a farm in Northern California waiting for him this spring.
A walkable and bikeable “play path” with opportunities for bird-watching, making music, gardening, constructing, and performing will be built in East Aurora later this year. The library is collaborating with a design firm in a virtual workshop open to the public for idea gathering.
