The Erie County Department of Health reports that at least 49 percent of county residents have had at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. This is the most current data up to May 6. In addition, almost 39 percent have completed the vaccine series, the department of health stated. This is for people 16-years-old and above. In an earlier news release, the agency said it was awaiting approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to approve use for the Pfizer vaccine for youth ages 12 to 15 to start planning for reaching that age group. The FDA gave that approval on May 10.
