Since the March 28 announcement legalizing cannabis in New York, Cities, towns, and villages across the state are deciding whether to exercise their right to opt-out of allowing adult-use cannabis retail dispensaries or on-site consumption licenses by passing a local law by Dec. 31, or nine months after the effective date of the legislation. Weighing different points of view against the potential tax revenues and jobs that legal cannabis will create, both at the state and local level, is a topic of discussion in Marilla.
