High temperatures and rain on Friday, Feb. 18 led to snow melt entering Tannery Brook and the breaking of ice, which became jammed along certain bridges and culverts resulted in flooding and closure of several village streets last week.

The saga of the issues with the Tannery Brook Culvert is a long story, and nothing new. In fact, it’s been a persistent problem that dates all the way back to 1899.
Over 400 feet of trees and branches have collected in one spot along Cazenovia Creek in a section south of Blakeley Road, close to where Olean Road meets the southern end of Route 400, which could cause flood situations and pollution concerns if not addressed.
