State Census Higher Than Expected, But Still Results in Congressional Seat Loss

The 2020 census officially came to an end last fall, and numbers are being released by the federal government. For New York State, more people than expected were counted and the state saw an overall population increase. Yet because of growth around the rest of the country, New York will lose one congressional seat. Records show this census reflects the smallest population growth in the history of the United States, save for the period of the Great Depression.
