Eric Lawton, Holland Central School District’s new superintendent, has special ties to the local community. His resume includes years of service in the Pembroke, Iroquois and Williamsville North School Districts, as well as principal at Cassadaga Valley Middle School. He also served as Holland Middle School Principal for 12 years, and most recently, at West Valley Central School as superintendent.
The Holland Central School Board met Monday, July 12 for its yearly reorganizational meeting, with the regular monthly meeting held afterward.
Even though she was not afforded the title, even in an acting capacity, Mabel E. Reed took over the duties of principal for several months in 1906, making her the first unofficial “superintendent” of East Aurora.
District officials presented Russ with a wooden plaque that is now outside of his office at 430 Main St. It commemorates his ten years serving the district and it is engraved with his name, along with the names of all of the superintendents that came before him, thanks to efforts by the town historian who tracked down the school’s first unofficial “superintendent,” Mabel Reed.
Holland Central School District Superintendent Cathy Fabiatos has announced that she will retire from her post at the end of the current school year.
