The East Aurora Blue Devils unified basketball team ended its inaugural season by bringing home a Section VI championship on June 2, with a 47-37 win over Lancaster.
An enthusiastic crowd of students, family members, faculty, varsity players from other sports, administrators and the general public turned out to watch as the Blue Devils unified basketball team took on the Depew Wildcats in its first home game on May 9.
East Aurora has joined a league of local schools with Unified programs that allow it to play six games during the inaugural season. The season got underway last month with a scrimmage against Iroquois and a first match against Dunkirk.
East Aurora will become the latest area school to have a unified basketball team competing in Section VI in the spring sports lineup. Practices begin March 28.
While it will be a shortened season, the Unified bowling team at Iroquois is looking forward to getting together and competing later this month.
